President’s Science And Technology Awards (2026) Recipients

Congratulations to our scientists who are recipients of the highest national honours for Singapore’s scientists, under the President’s Science and Technology Awards (2026). We are proud to celebrate the achievements of Prof Wu Jishan from the Department of Chemistry and Asst Prof Liu Boxiang from the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, whose groundbreaking research advances science in very different but equally impactful ways.

President’s Science Award (2026) – Prof Wu Jishan

Prof Wu Jishan received the President’s Science Award (PSA) for his contributions to molecular carbon science, pioneering new ways to design and control the properties of carbon-based molecules. His work opens up new approaches to developing advanced materials for future technologies, from electronics and magnetic devices to photonics and quantum technologies.

Young Scientist Award (2026) – Asst Prof Liu Boxiang

Asst Prof Liu Boxiang received the Young Scientist Award (YSA) for developing Artificial Intelligence (AI)  and bioinformatics tools that help scientists identify the genes that contribute to complex diseases such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders and neurological conditions. By uncovering how genetic differences influence disease, especially in underrepresented Asian populations, his research paves the way for more precise, personalised treatments tailored to an individual’s genetic make-up.
