BES Groves

BES Groves is an annual event organised by the BES student Committee with the aim of giving BES students the opportunity to understand the impact of marine trash firsthand and promote environmental awareness, as well as to do our best to remove debris found in the mangroves of Lim Chu Kang. The event is in conjunction with International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), an international event held annually to remove debris from shorelines, waterways, and beaches around the world, while at the same time collecting data on the type of debris found at these places. This information will then be used for educational purposes, as well as be submitted to governing bodies to encourage changes in policy for the protection and enhancement of aquatic environments.

Green Connect

Green Connect aims to help students interested in sustainability make informed career choices. Participants will be able to interact with industry experts from various fields including conservation, environmental consultancy, ESG, and green finance. Participants may gain career insights through short sharings by industry professionals in their relevant fields. The BES Symposium for Futures Sustainability delves into key themes related to enabling a greener future through a panel dialogue as a platform to amplify voices in sustainability, facilitate the exchange of ideas and create networking opportunities.

Esterification Workshop

A collage of our engaged facilitators and participants in the esterification workshop. All our participants came from different backgrounds such as junior colleges and polytechnics, but all were keen in learning and trying their hand on esterification synthesis.

A picture of our happy participants and facilitators concluding the esterification workshop. Our participants have learnt a key synthesis technique in organic chemistry and hope that the workshop will instil their love and appreciation for chemistry. Our facilitators have also learnt how to teach and pass down the knowledge to the participants with limited knowledge on organic synthesis.

NUS FoodTech Challenge (FTC)

NUS FoodTech Challenge (FTC) is an annual competition that brings together students from various tertiary educational institutions to brainstorm and develop innovative food tech ideas to tackle pressing issues confronted by the food industry today. The event is led by NUS Food Science and Technology (NUS FST) and NUS Enterprise, in partnership with corporate sponsors. In this year’s iteration, the event incorporated an international track which comprised of teams from China, Malaysia, Indonesia and the UK.
