FoS Alumni-Student Mentorship Programme (2nd Edition)

March 14, 2024

We concluded the FoS Alumni-Student Mentorship Programme with an appreciation dinner on 23 February 2024.

This year, we have a total of 117 students were paired with 48 alumni mentors for this second edition.

Feedback from our mentees indicated that they now possess a clearer vision of their career paths, with most expressing willingness to recommend their mentors to future batches of mentees.

Here’s what our mentors and mentees have to say about their experience

It is great as it is, the flexibility with some structure of the program lets the mentor and mentee crave out a personalized mentorship journey together.

Priya Rath, Mentor

The program is very well designed – kudos to Jia Jia and the team. My mentees were Year 1 students so a lot of discussions focused around understanding their interests and motivations. Mentoring Year 3/4 students will focus more on job searches and career planning.

Jacklyn Chen, Mentor

She [Dr Jacklyn Chen] is extremely friendly and generous when we are going out with her. She always go an extra mile to help us realise or find out what I want to do in the future. She did more than any mentor would have in that she spent meaningful time during each meetup and I always able to learn something from it. I can’t emphasise how good is she and I really appreciate her.

Ng Yi Fei, Mentee

My mentor [Sean Kong] is very open-minded and encouraging to me and my fellow mentee, and his perspective and advice help to alleviate some of the stresses that come with planning one’s career, especially in a highly competitive environment like NUS.

Jeanne Wang, Mentee

Mr. YK Png has increased my knowledge on various roles in the pharma industry, as well as how to present myself, both in real life and on platforms such as LinkedIn. With his unique style of career coaching, he has allowed me to reflect deeply on my skills, values and goals; this has been extremely helpful in understanding what I want to achieve in my future career.
