Singapore firm’s new product may help diabetics avoid sugar spike from food

Alchemy Foodtech, a home-grown company co-founded by NUS Food Science and Technology alumna Ms Verleen GOH, has created a product that adds fibre to food and may lower the glycaemic index (GI) of high carbohydrate meals, preventing them from causing the sudden spike in blood sugar levels that is so damaging to people with diabetes.

The company has also set up Singapore’s first of its kind food-tech lab. With the new facilities, they can now better collaborate with their food manufacturers in Singapore and the region to create healthier and delicious food products for our communities.
