Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) Student Committee
BES Groves

BES Groves is an annual event organised by the BES student Committee with the aim of giving BES students the opportunity to understand the impact of marine trash firsthand and promote environmental awareness, as well as to do our best to remove debris found in the mangroves of Lim Chu Kang. The event is in conjunction with International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), an international event held annually to remove debris from shorelines, waterways, and beaches around the world, while at the same time collecting data on the type of debris found at these places. This information will then be used for educational purposes, as well as be submitted to governing bodies to encourage changes in policy for the protection and enhancement of aquatic environments.
Green Connect

Green Connect aims to help students interested in sustainability make informed career choices. Participants will be able to interact with industry experts from various fields including conservation, environmental consultancy, ESG, and green finance. Participants may gain career insights through short sharings by industry professionals in their relevant fields. The BES Symposium for Futures Sustainability delves into key themes related to enabling a greener future through a panel dialogue as a platform to amplify voices in sustainability, facilitate the exchange of ideas and create networking opportunities.
American Chemical Society (NUS Student Chapter)
Industrial Visits
Every semester, our chapter organizes industrial visits to give students practical exposure to chemical industries, regardless of their major. With each tour, current and relevant elements of careers in the industry are shared, piquing students’ curiosity and acquainting them with applications of chemistry in biomedical sciences, consumer products, sustainability, and more.

Outside the lab, ACSSC organizes mini-competitions and gatherings to bring together chemistry hobbyists around NUS. Through engaging in thought-provoking elucidation questions and scenario-based prompts, we help to provide opportunities to network, share and grow interests in chemistry sub-fields with one another. Chemical Sciences Society (CSS)
Day of Service
The NUS Chemistry Day of Service aims to foster a spirit of service and community engagement within the Chemistry cohort. This year we partnered with Edible Garden City, for a hands-on gardening experience. The event sought to provide meaningful opportunities for students and staff to give back to society, while also serving as a platform for participants to make new friends and strengthen connections within the community.

Welfare Tea
Welfare Tea was a joint initiative by the Chemistry Student Society (CSS) and the Chemistry Department, aimed at fostering connections among Chemistry students, seniors, professors, and lecturers. As part of the examination welfare initiative, a variety of refreshments and beverages were provided for everyone to enjoy. The event also featured engaging games with attractive prizes, creating a fun and welcoming environment for students to make new friends and build deeper connections within the NUS Chemistry community.

Meet the Researchers

Meet the Researchers aims to provide students with valuable insights into the diverse research opportunities available in NUS Chemistry. The event features students involved in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROPS), Final Year Projects (FYP), and Postdoctoral research, who share their personal research experiences and journeys. In addition, Professors and research faculty members are invited to showcase their ongoing projects and areas of specialization. This event serves as a platform for students to learn more about the department’s research landscape and to network with faculty members, researchers, and seniors.
Data Science and Economics (DSE) Student Committee
DataBusters Case Competition

The flagship interdisciplinary case competition organised by the Data Science and Economics (DSE) Student Committee. DataBusters provides a platform for students to apply their knowledge of data science and economics to real-world problems. Through hands-on analysis and problem-solving, participants gain practical experience in using data-driven insights to inform economic and business decisions.
Food Science and Technology (FST) Society
NUS FoodTech Challenge (FTC)

NUS FoodTech Challenge (FTC) is an annual competition that brings together students from various tertiary educational institutions to brainstorm and develop innovative food tech ideas to tackle pressing issues confronted by the food industry today. The event is led by NUS Food Science and Technology (NUS FST) and NUS Enterprise, in partnership with corporate sponsors. In this year’s iteration, the event incorporated an international track which comprised of teams from China, Malaysia, Indonesia and the UK.
The challenge kicks off with a pre-competition online workshop, where industry experts share insights on business models and pitching and food formulation. Local and international track teams that managed to impress judges with their unique food ideas will advance into the preparation phase. The finalists will then attend prototyping workshops to refine their ideas under the mentorship of industry experts. Top finalists of each track stand a chance to win grand prize awards, potential internship opportunities with leading food-and-beverage companies and receive post-event support from The Hangar by NUS Enterprise.
FST Overseas Community Involvement Project (OCIP)

FST Overseas Community Involvement Project (OCIP) is organised annually by NUS Food Science and Technology (NUS FST), aimed at empowering rural communities through food science, sustainability, and education. Each year, a team of NUS FST students travels to partner villages in collaboration with local organisations and community leaders, to co-develop practical, culturally grounded solutions that address real food-related challenges faced on the ground. FST OCIP focuses on capacity-building rather than one-off aid, with activities ranging from hands-on workshops on food safety and preservation, to developing small-scale processing techniques, to educational outreach for children and youths.
Life Sciences Society (LSS)
EVB Nature Walks

The Environmental Biology Interest Group (EVBig) organise several natures walks annually where students from various backgrounds can join and explore Singapore’s biodiversity. There are guides and facilitators for each walk to better inform the participants.
LSS Academic Affairs Informative Talks

Throughout the year, LSS Academic Affairs host various informative talks that explore various academic opportunities, such as 2nd Major/Minor Sharing, SEP Sharing and PhD Information Session.
pDNA Volunteering Events

LSS allows our students to participate and engage with local communities beyond the school. Project DNA hosts ad-hoc events such as Kayak and Clean as well as long-term volunteering opportunities with the National Kidney Foundation befriending.
NUS Mathematics Society (MathSoc)
ProbleMATHic


As NUS Mathematics Society’s annual flagship event, ProbleMATHic strives to create a learning and thought-process-oriented platform for Mathematics enthusiasts to come together and challenge themselves in a fun-filled competition. ProbleMATHic is uniquely structured in a manner that features passionate students from the society in setting the problem questions and explaining the solutions to the participants on the spot after they have been attempted on the day of the competition. Such experience provides opportunity for like-minded individuals to interact and inspire one another and serves to pique participants’ confidence and interest in Mathematics. Moreover, recent iterations feature a crossword puzzle too!
Singapore Cube Competition

The Singapore Cube Championship, formerly known as Singapore Rubik’s Cube Competition, is an annual competition held by the NUS Mathematics Society. There are a total of three categories, namely the NUS Category, School Category and Open Category. In addition, the Open Category of the Competition is an event approved by the World Cube Association (WCA).

Know Your Medicines, Get It Right! (KYMGIR)

On 2 November 2025, the NUS Pharmaceutical Society (NUSPS) Essential Medicines Committee hosted its annual flagship event, Know Your Medicines, Get it Right! (KYMGIR), at Toa Payoh West Community Club. This yearly outreach initiative, which promotes the safe and effective use of medications, spotlighted osteoporosis prevention and management as its central theme.
Youth Expedition Project-Dispense A Dream (YEP-DAD)

YEPDAD is an annual overseas community service project planned by the students from NUS Pharmaceutical Society. Through experiential learning and cultural exchange, YEPDAD aims to nurture confident and resilient youths with the desire to make a difference both at home and overseas.

The Physics Engagement Camp (PEC) is an outreach programme, organised by the NUS Physics Society (PhySoc) targeted at enriching pre-university students’ interest in physics. NUS Statistics and Data Science Society (SDS)
Data Science Competition

The Data Science Competition was organised to encourage students from all university in Singapore to learn more about Data Analysis and how applicable it is to real-life problem. Through the competition, the participants were able to get a glimpse on why data analysis is “the one” in today’s world and perhaps, spark their interest into the world of data science.
Technical Workshops

SDS holds 4-5 technical workshops every semester, aiming to impart hands-on data analysis skills in participants and share useful ideas. The topics are various, including but not limited to resume writing, R language, Machine Learning, SQL, etc.

Science x Valentines’
Science x Valentine’s is organised by Science Club alongside the Academic Societies. An annual affair, this celebration of the Faculty of Science and its staff, professors, students and history is one the largest faculty-wide events where students get to experience the vibrancy university life has to offer.
Science Sports Games

A day of competitive and recreational sports and games, Science Sports Games (SSG) aims to encourage Science students, staff and alumni to lead an active lifestyle through exposure to a variety of sports. The event also aims to let students have fun before midterm examinations, as well as building up the anticipation for the upcoming Inter-Faculty Games.
Science x Halloween

Science x Halloween is organised by Science Club alongside the Academic Societies. An annual affair, this spooky celebration of the Faculty of Science brings together staff, professors, and students for a frightfully fun few days. One of the largest faculty-wide events, it is where Science comes alive under the moonlight: with thrilling games, eerie decorations, and the perfect dose of Halloween spirit that lets students experience the vibrant side of university life.
