Prof KOH Lian Pin highlights ways for Singapore to tackle climate change

February 06, 2021

Singapore can do its part in climate change action by setting more ambitious and science-based targets for three key outcomes, said NMP Koh Lian Pin in Parliament on Monday (Feb 1). First, it urgently needs to reduce emissions from the use of fossil fuels, by transitioning to renewable sources of energy, increasing energy efficiency and cutting down on waste. Second, it needs to protect its remaining forests and avoid further emissions from deforestation. Third, it needs to start capturing and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
