Commission-free food delivery

Benjamin was part of a team from NUS’ College of Alice and Peter Tan (CAPT) who set up a food delivery service, Hawkerjio, to support hawkers and private car hire drivers during COVID-19.
The team linked up with various hawkers to prepare bulk orders collated through a Telegram channel within the CAPT community. They also partnered private hire car drivers to deliver the orders.
Over 1,500 meals were delivered during the pilot run.
A new website was launched, and the team is now exploring how to further improve the service.
Benjamin says, “We hope that our collective efforts help our hawker and private hire car communities, whose incomes are significantly impacted.”
