Alice and Peter Tan Scholarship recipient

 

At the end of his first year, Zi Heng suffered a life-threatening diving accident that left him paralysed. With resilience and perseverance to overcome the odds, Zi Heng returned to school after a year of absence. The scholarship and the Faculty’s fund-raising initiative helped with his medical bills and enabled him to enjoy a full and rewarding student life. He was part of the NUS Students’ Science Club 35th Management Committee, where he received the NUS Students’ Science Club Long Service Award. He was also an active member of the Young Educators in Science programme, where he demonstrated scientific concepts in interesting ways to youths. At the College of Alice and Peter Tan, Zi Heng participated in the Community Engagement Festival as well as a capstone project to promote an elderly-friendly supermarket experience. He also went on an immersion trip to Germany with the Physics Department. Zi Heng aspires to be a teacher.
