Alumni-Students Networking
An interactive evening of networking between science alumni and students where alumni from various industries share insightful work experiences with students.
2025 Networking Session:
On 14 October, the Faculty of Science, together with Career Advisors from the NUS Centre for Future-ready Graduates, hosted the 13th NUS Science Alumni-Students Networking Evening! This annual event is always a crowd favourite, giving Science students the chance to meet and learn from alumni who have gone on to build exciting careers across different industries.
This year, more than 250 participants, including 36 alumni mentors who made time in their busy schedules to share their experiences. From research and data science, to finance, sustainability, pharmaceuticals, and the public sector, our alumni came from all corners of the professional world – and they didn’t hold back in sharing candid insights about their career journeys, lessons learned, and the challenges they have faced along the way.
The evening was full of lively conversations, laughter and genuine connections. Many students walked away with new perspectives, practical advice and even some future contacts to reach out to. As the night wrapped up, both students and alumni shared how meaningful it was to connect across generations of Science graduates – a true reminder of the strength of the NUS Science community.
Had some truly engaging conversations — my biggest takeaway is that there’s an incredible breadth of opportunities out there, many of which extend beyond our immediate fields of study.
Angelina Ong, Year 1, Chemistry
It is really a great opportunity to gain insights about the corporate world and their career paths.
Lee Zong Xuan, Year 1, Physics
Wish we had more time to chat w the alumni! It was really insightful and reassuring to hear about the alumni’s journey, and gives me confidence that things will work out no matter what path or decision we make!
Huang Xinpeng, Year 4, Life Sciences
I wish I attended more events like this as a student! The world of work can be so alien to a student, I was glad to give a glimpse into how students can get into the shoes of a hiring manager and put their best foot forward.
James Chang, Alumni Mentor
I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to the student community by sharing my career journey and experiences in the Special Programme in Mathematics.
Kenny Wong, Alumni Mentor
Glad to have made the event! The students came with enthusiastic questions and shared their aspirations for their future. The format was relaxed and gave us ample time to have a good conversation.
