Research
Since its establishment, the Department has maintained
a good tradition of research and has made significant contributions
to knowledge in the chemistry of electrolyte solutions, free radicals,
natural products, molecular conformations, metal complexes, organometallic
compounds, fluorine chemistry, and polymers.
More recently, and especially in the last decade, the department,
which is certainly one of the strongest in Asia, has made important
contributions in theoretical chemistry, analytical chemistry (especially
high-resolution chromatography and electrophoresis) and environmental
analysis. The quality of research is reflected by the international
recognition the Department has garnered through publications by
its staff in reputable international journals. Our contributions
to chemical research has been documented by the Institute for Scientific
Information in its journal (see Science Watch , 5, (1994) 1-2.).
