Research Interests

Organo-molybdenum, tungsten and rhenium complexes and application in the oxidation catalysis

Some chiral Mo(VI)O2L3(Solv)- and Mo and W(VI)O2L4-type complexes have been used for the asymmetric epoxidation of olefins. The compound with the composition of Cp’M(CO)3X (M = Mo. W: X = alkyl, or Cl) have been used as precursors of Cp’Mo(VI)O2X or Cp’Mo(VI)O(O2) X-type complexes for the chiral and achiral epoxidatio of olefins. Some compounds of these type complexes have been heterogenized onto the surface of mesoporous molecular sieves such as MCM-41 and MCM-48. The synthesis of more efficient chiral complexes based on the system of Cp’M(CO)3X (M = Mo. W: X = alkyl) is still in progress.

In cooperation with Prof. Hor T. S. Andy and the research group of Prof. F. E. Kuehn in the Technological University Munich in Germany, I will focus on the development of a series of new MTO (methyltrioxorhenium) based and molybdenum(VI) based complexes to be used for the epoxidation of olefin and other oxidation catalyses involving waster-water treatment and renewable resources.

Transition Metal Catalysts for Olefin Oligomerization/Polymerization.

I am developing novel chromium und molybdenum based complexes with new type of ligands as catalysts for the oligomerization of ethylene. This work will be conducted in cooperation with Prof. Hor T. S. Andy and Dr. Weng Zhiqiang and is based on the successful application of some low-coordinated and low-valent nickel complexes containing iminoferrocenylphosphine ligand in the olefin oligomerization/polymerization.
