1) Coursework requirement

Graduate students are required to take coursework. From July 2004 onwards, all graduate research programme candidates admitted in AY2004/2005 must read two CM5000 modules and one seminar module. After sitting for and having passed Qualifying Exam, further three CM5000 modules have to be taken.

Graduate students may substitute the CM5000 modules with the level-5 modules from other departments. The student can take up to 50% of the level 5 modules from other departments or faculties subject to the approval of the graduate committee. Refer to the Prospectus for descriptions of the modules available.

2) Graduate requirements

1) Students matriculated in 2002/3 and before, CAP graduation requirement is 2.50;
2) Students matriculated in 2003/4 and after, CAP graduation requirement is 3.00 for MSc and 3.50 for PhD candidates.

Awarded to:
The Student who has submitted the Most Outstanding MSc thesis
The Student who has submitted the Most Outstanding PhD thesis

Sim Geok Soo Medal
Awarded to Graduating Master of Science in Chemistry by Coursework Student with the best project thesis.

Lim Chin Kuan Book Prize
Awarded to the Best Student of each intake in the Master of Science in Chemistry by coursework. (For more detail, please read page 4 of ChemConnections Issue 8)
