The Faculty of Science (FoS) at National University of Singapore (NUS) collaborates with the University of Toronto (UofT), University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and University of Costa Rica etc. in offering Summer Programmes for FoS students. These short term (6 to 7-weeks) exchange programmes hosted by the respective universities offer multidisciplinary programmes involving participation from various departments spanning across Faculties/Schools at the universities.
In addition to coursework-based programmes FoS partners leading research intensive universities, California Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Universidad Autonoma de Madrid to offer 10 to 12-week summer research opportunities. For a longer duration of research study, the NUS-Harvey Mudd College Global Clinic Programme and Waseda University Global Seminar Programme provide students group interactions in theme-based projects.
Other than faculty-level exchange there are also University-Wide summer programmes available. For more information on the various summer programmes offered you can refer to the International Relations Office website: http://www.nus.edu.sg/iro/
Science students will have the wonderful opportunity to broaden their horizons without disrupting academic schedules. In the host country, you will discover the true meaning of "learning outside the classroom" - observe and experience many of the things you study, including the country's history, culture, art, and religion.
In the words of one of the programme's previous participants says, "... Travelling to the other side of the world have let me learn that there is actually so much more, like how diverse the people can be, how huge a country can be, with the beautiful sceneries other than buildings and urban landscapes..."

Welcome to the Summer Programme at the Faculty of Science, NUS. The programme, administered by the Faculty, is aimed at providing students from overseas universities an exciting, fun yet academically challenging multi-disciplinary education with strong Asian focus.
The highlight of our summer programme includes the Biodiversity programme in which you will go to the luscious tropical island of Pulau Tioman in Peninsula Malaysia for a 1-week field trip to study the island’s diverse assemblage of flora and fauna. Beyond academics, you will also participate in a cultural assimilation programme to further acquaint yourself with the Asian and Singaporean culture and way of life. Specially-organized tours to places around Singapore will provide you a window to our unique multi-cultural and multi-religious landscapes.
In addition, we provide summer research opportunities for students to conduct a 12-week research with faculty members at NUS. This is an opportunity to do research at one of Asia’s leading research intensive universities and immerse in an international environment on campus and labs.
The Summer Programme is open to students from universities with bilateral exchange agreements with the Faculty of Science. Students may apply by contacting the student exchange offices of their respective home universities.
