Novel discovery could improve diagnosis and early screening of kidney stone disease
This was a report on the discovery of a unique panel of urine biomarkers that can accurately diagnose kidney stones. The findings were based on a preliminary study of 50 healthy individuals and 50 kidney stone patients led by Associate Professor Eric Chan from the Department of Pharmacy at NUS Faculty of Science. Building on the findings, the research team has embarked on an in-depth clinical study to validate the biomarkers with a secondary cohort of patients, and to investigate the development of kidney stones.
