  • Congratulations to our SRPian winners at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2008

We would like to highlight the achievements of our SRPians Zhao Ye (NUS HSMS) , Zhai Weichao (NUS HSMS) and David Yin Jianyang (RJC) . Their projects have won top prizes at the recent Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2008 held from 11 to 17 May 2008 at Atlanta, USA.

Zhao Ye and Weichao's project on "Nanofabrication with Focused Sunlight" mentored by A/Prof Sow Chorng Haur from Faculty of Science, Department of Physics had won the First Award under the "Team projects" category.

David Yin Jianyang's project on "Synthesis of Mesoporous Carbon Nanofibers" mentored by Dr. Han Yu from Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, had won the Third Award under the "Material Science and Bioengineering" category.

  • Research Methods Modules 1 & 2 (2008)

    Please note that :
-The 3rd RMM Session "Lab Safety and Risk Assessment" will be COMPULSORY for all SRPians to attend
-students must attend at least 4 of the RMMs 1&2 in order to qualify for RMMs 3 & 4 (SRP 2008/09).
  • Congratulations to our SRPian winner at the 2008 Taiwan International Science Fair

We would like to highlight the achievement of our SRPian Leong Yuan Chang, Hwa Chong Junior College, mentored by A/P Michael Raghunath from NUS, Faculty of Engineering, Division of Bioengineering.

His project on "Investigating the Effects of Macromolecular Crowding on in-vitro Antigen-Antibody Reactions" won him a First Award at the fair!
  • Congratulations to SRPian winners at the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) 2008 !

This year, 246 projects were short-listed to display at Science Centre during the SSEF 2008. 80 of them were awarded Gold, Silver or Merit after the judging early this month. The SRP projects bagged 5 Gold awards, 8 Silver awards , 6 Bronze awards and 7 Merit Awards (For more details, please click on " SSEF Results " on your right).

We would like to congratulate our SRP Mentors who have mentored the winning projects at the Singapore Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) 2008.

We also wish to thank the many other mentors who have put in considerable time and effort to mentor many other projects at SSEF and other school programmes.

The Faculty of Science, in collaboration with the Gifted Education Branch of the Ministry of Education, started the Science Enrichment Programme in 1988. It is meant for very capable students who aspire to a higher level of challenge than that offered through the mere application of scientific and mathematical concepts in the classroom.
The idea for this programme was mooted by Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam, then Education Minister. Since the launch of the programme, Shaw Foundation has generously contributed towards the funding of the programme.
In 1989, the programme was renamed Science Research Programme (SRP) to better reflect the best approach to an appreciation of science research.
The SRP has expanded considerably, and involved many other faculties, research institutes and government agencies. We believe that the programme will continue to provide that experience of exploratory research in real-life research laboratories, under the guidance of some of our best researchers in Singapore.

As from SRP 2006/2007, students can now opt to take SRP as H3 subject or enrichment research project, subjected to mentor's agreement.
All projects under the H3-SRP should meet the standards according to:
1. Creative ability & originality
2. Scientific thought / Engineering goals
3. Execution thoroughness and skills
4. Clarity in Presentation
