Inculcating a Lifelong Fascination for Science!

Science and Technology are the key determinants of change as well as the agents of progress. It is through the discovery of new scientific knowledge and the creation of technological innovations that Singapore can stay relevant to the changing needs of global consumers. Where better to start than with the youths of the nation?

The Outreach Programmes of the Faculty of Science aspire to spur curiosity, foster inquiry and inculcate a lifelong fascination for Science in them. Take a look at some of our programmes & activities!

The Science Research Programme aims to provide opportunities for selected first-year JC H2 and Year 5 Integrated Programmes science students who have demonstrated the interest and an aptitude for scientific research to engage in research projects under the mentorship of scientists and engineers from NUS and partner research agencies.
The Science Mentorship Programme aims to nuture Secondary 2 & 3 IP pupils in the spirit of inquiry as well as to develop attitudes and values for the proper conduct of science research. This will help to prepare and equip them better for a mentorship experience with a professional scientist.
Science Focus is created to expose students to understand the discoveries and applications of the scientific world through lectures, group discussions and laboratory work.
CHAOS is an internet-based science competition for secondary school students. This competition will require them to engage in high-intensity IT research work, utilize higher-order thinking and critical analysis and employ creative thinking in the development of their solutions.
Aimed to challenge and excite the minds of our students, our scientists from NUS, together their counterparts from other partner agencies collaborated to prepare our top students to take part in the National and International Olympiads held locally and overseas.
The Faculty of Science also actively participates in national events organised by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Science Centre Singapore such as Science 07. This was a month long series of events that aimed to encourage scientific discovery, technical innovation and biomedical awareness.
