CHAOS
The Creative & Heuristic Application of Science (CHAOS) is an internet-based science competition for secondary school students. The programme is a joint initiative of the Faculty of Science and the Gifted Education Branch of MOE, with the support of the Defence Science & Technology Agency and DSO National Laboratories.
The competition is opened to all students who are currently enrolled in secondary school in Singapore. Participants are to work on challenging open-ended science problems which will require them to engage in high-intensity research work, utilize higher-order thinking and critical analysis and employ creative thinking in the development of their solutions. It encourages the participants to integrate their knowledge of the various science disciplines and to instill confidence in applying scientific ideas in tackling real-life issues.

CHAOS 2008 - "The Golden Years"
Singapore's population is ageing rapidly. According to statistics, one out of every 12 Singaporeans is aged 65 or above today. By 2030, this ratio will become one out of 5. An ageing population brings both challenges and opportunities, thus participants will be required to consider four sets of tasks in subject areas of Statistics and Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
