Seoul National University visits Faculty of Science
Students from Seoul National University (SNU), College of Natural Sciences dropped in on a day-long visit at NUS Faculty of Science (FoS) on 21 August 2013. These students, who belong to the SNU’s Global Leadership Programme (GLEAP), came to FoS with the intention to interact with like-minded counterparts in foreign universities so as to build friendships and create international networks.
After presentations from both universities, the visitors had the chance to visit the Science Demo Lab, where the Young Educators in Science (YES) members carried out scientific experiments and demonstrations.

Students from Special Programme in Science (SPS) and a few others who have ventured to South Korea for their Student Exchange Programme (SEP), together with the NUS Students’ Science Club played host to the visitors while they were in NUS. Other than sharing with them about their life as an NUS student, the student hosts also brought the visitors on a tour around campus, visiting University Town (UTown), Yusof Ishak House (YIH) and student hostels, among others.
WOO Jeong Woong, President of GLEAP, was thankful for the visit to NUS. Representing GLEAP, he said, “We enjoyed greatly the activities that were arranged for us during our visit to NUS, Faculty of Science. Other than the awesome tour of the Science Demo Lab and NUS campus, we were touched by the hospitality of the staff and students. The Students’ Science Club, SPS students and GLEAP members exchanged a lot of pointers and we gained invaluable experience from this trip though it was a short visit. There were no language barriers as some of the student hosts spoke fluent Korean. Thank you for hosting us and we hope to visit Singapore again.”
