45th International Chemistry Olympiad
Achieving outstanding results for Singapore at this year’s International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) were CHUA Anlong, CAO Yuxin and LIN Yongjie who scored a gold medal each, and FANG Haitian, who scored a bronze medal.
In its 45th run, the IChO this year was held from 15 to 24 July in Moscow, Russia, with 291 high school students representing 73 countries. The Singapore team was led and mentored by Dr XU Hairuo and Dr HOANG Truong Giang from the NUS Department of Chemistry and was accompanied also by Mr FUNG Fun Man (Department of Chemistry) and Ms Wendy KOH (MOE).
“We had a great time working with the four talented young students. They demonstrated a deep understanding of chemistry as well as a passion for the subject. We are very happy that their hard work has finally paid off,” says Dr Xu.
The team’s excellent performance once again placed Singapore at the forefront of Science education and the faculty would like to congratulate them.
