Food Science and Technology Chinese New Year Reunion
The Food Science & Technology (FST) Chinese New Year reunion dinner is an annual event that was started since the first batch graduated in 2004. The attendance for this homecoming has always been overwhelming and the crowd increases each year.
This year’s reunion dinner was held on 19 February at the FST Food Processing Laboratory. The laboratory was packed with more than 180 alumni, staff and students, who were excited to catch up with one another. The dinner started with Lo Hei, the tossing of Yu Sheng that symbolises good fortune and blessings for the New Year. The Lo Hei was prepared by Year 4 students as per tradition. Catered buffet dinner, pizza, and even éclairs made by Tony, a Year 4 student and aspiring entrepreneur, was served. The night culminated with a lucky draw where prizes were given out to 10 lucky winners.
This event has been a meaningful tradition for FST as it brings the alumni back together to their alma-mater. It was also a good networking platform for current students where they could interact with the alumni and learn more about their workplace experiences.
Postgraduate student Ivan CHUA commented, "Thanks for organising such a big awesome reunion. Kudos to the FST EXCO.”
Verleen GOH, co-founder of Soyato Foods International and FST alumna remarked, "I am always happy to be back to catch up with my professors and the team from FST. Over time, they have become like friends and advisors to me.”
