Frontier Science Workshop Nuclear Physics in Medicine and Technology

Participants will be introduced to the applications of nuclear physics in medicine and technology. They will also be given insights into imaging and treatment in healthcare, legislation on, and principles of, radiation protection in Singapore, as well as setting up a radiation safety programme in a healthcare institution. 

The programme includes a medical facility visit, for exclusive demonstrations of state of-the-art clinical systems and technologies used in diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine.

Educators and industry professionals will benefit from the course by acquiring enhanced specialist knowledge in Nuclear Physics and its applications, especially in the medical field. Participants will also learn and interact with some of the world’s foremost experts in the field.


At the end of the course, participants will gain understanding of the following:

Basic nuclear physics and radiation used in various industries

Principles of radiation protection

Measurement and quantification of radiation exposure

Legislation on radiation protection in Singapore

Imaging and treatment in healthcare, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Positron Emission Tomography, Computed X-ray Tomography T and Proton Therapy

Setting up a radiation safety programme in a healthcare institution


Participants will enjoy an introductory fee.
• Ministry of Education participants: S$1,200 (inclusive of GST)
• Other participants : S$1,500 (inclusive of GST)
This includes course materials, lunch and tea breaks.
