Joint Degree Programmes
NUS-ANU Joint PhD
The National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Australian National University (ANU) Joint PhD programme is offered by the Department of Physics at NUS and the School of Physical Sciences and Engineering at ANU. Students on the joint PhD programme can expect to earn their doctoral degrees after three to four years of study.

Candidature
For NUS students, the minimum period of candidature for this Joint degree programme will be minimum four semesters and the maximum ten semesters. NUS Students must pass qualifying examination set by the department before they can transfer their candidate from PhD(NUS) to NUS-ANU Joint PhD candidature.

Course requirements
NUS students are required to spend at least two semesters at ANU either reading graduate courses or undertaking research. NUS students will be required to sign up for up to two ANU graduate courses. The credits earned from undertaking such graduate courses will be transferable to NUS.
NUS student are expected to complete coursework comprising 6 modules at graduate level with an average CAP of 3.5. The PhD thesis will be examined by one examiner each from NUS and ANU, and an external examiner nominated by the Joint Degree Programme Committee.

Research Scholarships
Full-time NUS PhD candidates awarded with a NUS research scholarship is bound by the terms and conditions of the research scholarship.

NUS-IIT Joint PhD 
This joint PhD programme is offered by the Faculty of Science, National University of Singapore (NUS) and the following partner universities

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB)

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK)

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM)

The students on this joint PhD programme will be registered at both NUS and IIT and graduate with a joint degree. The candidate may apply to either NUS or IIT. When accepted, the admitting university will be the home university.

At NUS, the students will follow the coursework/graduation requirements for all NUS postgraduate students.

Course requirements

Students are required to spend at least two semesters each at NUS and IITM, either reading graduate modules or undertaking research. The cost of travel, accommodation between home and partner university and any living expenses will be incurred by the students.

Research scholarships

Students awarded with research scholarship from their home university will be bound by the terms and conditions of the research scholarship.
