National Awards
The objective of IPS Awards is to identify and honour physicists who are currently doing remarkable physics research and making innovative physics education contributions to encourage younger members of our local physics community to attain greater success in future as they probe the marvelous yet unknown frontiers of the physical Universe.
The National Research Foundation (NRF) Research Fellowship (RF) Scheme is a globally competitive programme to attract, recruit and root young scientists and researchers to conduct independent research in Singapore. Each Research Fellow will be provided with a research grant of up to US$1.5 million over three years, with the option of a second round of three-year funding provided at the discretion of NRF.
The award recognises research scientists and engineers in Singapore who have made outstanding contributions in basic research leading to the discovery of new knowledge or the pioneering development of scientific or engineering techniques and methods.
The YSA recognises to young researchers, aged 35 years and below, who are actively engaged in R&D in Singapore, and who have shown great potential to be world-class researchers in their fields of expertise. This award is organised by the Singapore National Academy of Science and supported by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research.
The SYA aims to recognise and commend contributions made by youths who have excelled in their respective fields as well as contributed back to the community. It honours young people whose achievements will serve as an inspiration to others.
The Singapore National Day Awards are a means to recognising various forms of merit and service to Singapore. In year 2007, a total of 16 staff from Faculty of Science were awarded the Long Service Medal.
