Welcome to Faculty of Science! You have made the right choice to join us. FoS has an excellent track record in winning numerous research awards and research grants. You are in the company of many outstanding faculty members from all over the world who have excellent research track-records;FoS is over-represented each year in the National Science Awards and NUS Research Awards.

We have won the first Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), and are well represented in the NRF Competitive Research Program (CRP) and NRF Fellowships. Our Principal Investigators have well-equipped research facilities and well-funded research programs. We have many talented graduate students from Asia and beyond joining FoS each year, since we are acknowledged as one of the top universities in Asia.

New Academic Member

Dr Webb, Edward Layman joined the Department of Biological Sciences on 4 June 2008. He was formally a Botanist, American Samoa Government. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

  • Tropical and subtropical vegetation ecology
  • Community-based natural resources management and conservation
  • Tropical and subtropical forest conservation
  • Remote sensing and GIS in ecosystem management and conservation decision making
