Advanced Placement Credits for Polytechnic Diploma Holders

For students admitted before AY2015/2016, Polytechnic Diploma holders admitted to the Faculty will be automatically granted advanced placement credits (APCs) of 20 MCs (not subject to performance in the placement tests) as follows:

  • GXK1999 GEM (Group B) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1901 UEM (1) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1902 UEM (2) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1903 UEM (3) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1904 BREADTH FOR POLY GRADUATES

All the above Level-1000 modules (with the exception of POY1901, POY1902 and POY1903) are included within the maximum of 60 MCs of Level-1000 modules that students are allowed to read in fulfillment of 120/160 MCs for graduation. MCs from Level-1000 module(s) that are read in excess of 60 MCs will not count towards the 120/160 MCs required for graduation.

For the AY2015/16 matriculation cohort and onwards, the 8 MCs of APCs for GEM and Breadth will no longer be granted. Instead, the APCs for Unrestricted Elective Modules (UEM) will be increased to 20 MCs as follows:

  • POY1901 UEM (1) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1902 UEM (2) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1903 UEM (3) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1908 UEM (4) FOR POLY GRADUATES

  • POY1909 UEM (5) FOR POLY GRADUATES

These 20 MCs of APCs are tagged at Level-1000 but will not be counted against the 60-MC limit on Level-1000 modules.
