Title of Talk: The role of fermions in magnetic monopoles and other solitons.
Abstract: In gauge solitons, such as monopoles, instantons and vortex lines, the fermionic Lagrangian has zero mode solutions. These often have very special physical properties.The magnetic monopole itself, which is predicted in Grand Unified Theories, is a violent catalyst for proton decay because of these modes.
